Annette Yancey Allgood,

I worked at PW's in my youth.
Charlene Creamer hired me to
handle the books and do asst.
manager stuff. I worked under
Wayne ? and Tommy Goss. Nancy
Gund, Nancy Lapidus and I were
about the only women working
there for a long time. (Nancy is
a social worker these days, I
think. Probably had great
training dealing with the staff
and regulars!)
I planned the 3rd Anniversary
Party with Tommy. It was a
blast. I met (and dated for a
little while) White House
photographer and Pulitzer Prize
winner David Hume Kennerly. He
brought First Lady Betty Ford
and Doonesbury creator Garry
Trudeau in a few times. John
Greer and Greg (was it
Lunsford??) were our head night
bartenders. Joe Toomey and Earl
Hewitt were other friends who
worked up to bartender slots.
Palmer Walker was a star waiter
there during my tenure, too.
Barry Livingston ('Ernie' on 'My
Three Sons') came in with his
uncle from Baltimore one night
after a performance at the
Kennedy Center. We hung out
during the run ... even saw a
UFO together his last night in
town. He was performing in
Kansas City 10 years later when
I lived nearby. I left a message
with his publicist asking if he
remembered PW's, me and the UFO.
He called me immediately and
said he still had his PW's tee
shirt the staff had given him.
AAAHHHHHHHHH -- those were the
days!
